From this disc it is enough just to listen to the beguiling reading which Savall and Le Concert des Nations give of the Musical Joke (Ein musikalishcer Spass, K522, a satirical reflection on all the worst music written but delivered by the greatest of composers) to catch on to the fact that the catalan musician’s contribution to this Mozart year will not be to append yet another disc to the anniversary, but instead to provide one of the most outstanding and attractive candidates that 2006 will have to offer us. Numbered amongst the soloists we have the more than considerable talents of Pablo Valetti, Manfredo Kraemer and Bruno Cocset.
