This CD contains very well-known vihuela works for everyone who appreciates the legacy of this unique instrument (Narváez, Fuenllana, Mudarra, Milán); Nonetheless, Rafael Bonavita’s performance sounds brand new, fully personal. The musician shows an astounding technique, a strong freedom of will and that renaissance sensibility mentioned by Spanish thinkers from the 16th Century as well. All of this makes for a truly beautiful CD, a not-to-be-missed addition to this instrument’s already large recorded history that is intented to clear its ways through the 21st Century.
