Schumann is before all a pianist. It is first to his instrument (that is also the one of
Clara) that he devotes his first composer’s years. The masterpieces of chamber music
will come in the years 1840. The present album is devoted to the trio with piano, the
favourite formation of the 19th Century that combines the economy of the chamber
music to the prestige of instrumental music. By itself pianistic and orchestral at the
same time, the piano has the main role but is combined with the richness of the
sometimes unbelievable sonorities of the strings and their strange far voices.
